Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?
No, you do not! So long as there are no breakable items in the drawers, they can remain full during transport. In some cases with antique furniture, it may be better to remove the clothing; however, in most cases, it can stay in with no issues.
What is valuation and which option should I choose?
Valuation refers to the total declared value of your shipment. The default valuation is called basic value protection and the coverage is $0.60/lb. This coverage is provided at no extra cost to the shipper. In many cases, this level of valuation is insufficient when compared to the replacement value of your items. If you want peace of mind that your shipment is properly covered, full value protection is your best option. For local jobs, full value protection offers a base level protection of $4, and for long-distance moves, it offers $6/lb minimum protection.
